UPDATED RUMOR: GoldenEye 2?

Bond In Investing Savings A new GoldenEye title is said to be in development at EA's Redwood Shores and is being prepared to be shown at this years E3.

This news is unofficial but if a new GoldenEye is in the works, its safe to say that the team that was behind Everything Or Nothing is working on the new Bond title.

It is unknown if this is a remake of the original GoldenEye, a sequel, or if the game is even being developed at all.

UPDATED

It seems that EA will indeed be making a new GoldenEye. The new GoldenEye will not be an update of the original but more of a sequel.

Those hoping that Free Radical may be behind the development of the new Bond title will be disappointed as EA has denied Free Radical's involvement. An EA Spokesperson had this to say:

"Free Radical is not working on any James Bond games for EA. We have no plans at the present time to place Bond with another third party that we're working with - Bond products are currently being developed at our Redwood Shores and Los Angeles offices."

Though this is disappointing news it doesn't mean that the new GoldenEye is entirely doomed for the past few EA Bond titles have been quite good.

Thanks to Cube-Europe for the update.

Besides writing the twelve novels and nine short stories featuring James Bond, secret agent 007, Ian Fleming also is known for writing the children's novel, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The James Bond books became wildly successful and part of 1950s popular culture even before being filmed, permitting Fleming to retire comfortably to his home in Jamaica, a small cottage he called Goldeneye.
