GoldenEye 2 Details

GoldenEye 2 Details

Bond In Investing Savings EA today let the cat out of the bag. The first details on its anticipated sequel to Rares famous GoldenEye on the Nintendo 64, GoldenEye 2, now officially named GoldenEye: Rogue Agent, are here.

According to Electronic Arts, EA Los Angeles is working hard on their next installment in its ever-growing Bond franchise. However, the publisher has put a spin on things this time around. Like taking the view from first-person to third-person with Everything or Nothing, which released earlier this year, the publisher is switching the perspective in which gamers play Rogue Agent. Well, kind of.

While the actual perspective will be first-person, gamers will still be playing from an all new perspective. In past Bond games, players played as James Bond trying to save the world of the most sinister villains. However, this time around, gamers can get their evil groove on, as they will play as the villain, trying to take over the world.

As double-O agent, players are dismissed from MI6, and are then picked up by the evil Auric Goldfinger, a man with a lust for gold. With your missing eye, replaced by a mechanical gold one, thanks to a brutal run in with Dr. No, Goldfingers archenemy, you set out to rule the world.

Through a variety of levels, players will encounter many familiar faces from the Bond universe, including Oddjob, Scaramanga, Xenia Onatopp and Pussy Galore. Also, gamers will explore a variety of familiar locales, such as Switzerland, Hong Kong, Fort Knox and Dr. No's Crab Key lair in the Caribbean.

The title, in addition to its single-player mode, will feature a full-blown multiplayer one with four-player spit-screen for GameCube and Xbox owners and online play for PlayStation 2 users. The mode will include a variety of modes, such as deathmatch and objective-based war games.

GameCube Advanced will have more on GoldenEye: Rogue Agent next week with impressions!

You can expect to see notes from the Thrilling Cities series, the bikini worn by Halle Berry in the Bond film Die Another Day and the "blood splattered" shirt as worn by Daniel Craig in the latest of the Bond films, Casino Royale. Detailing not only his colourful and varied career, For Your Eyes Only takes a look at the suggestion that many of the characters in Fleming's novels and indeed the setting for the Bond novels were all inspired by his own experiences of the Cold War, spies and technology used in the armed forces.
