Andy Hahn The cockpits of sport-fishing boats from Jersey to Jamaica harbor more mad scientists than you'll see in a Saturday afternoon horror matinee. Mates and captains, always trying to improve the performance of their baits, constantly experiment with ways to bring dead ballyhoo back to life. Snapped backbones, squeezed-out innards, split bills and chin weights turn stiff baitfish into seductively swimming snacks that predators just can't resist.
Bond In Investing Savings Carefully rigged baits are a wonder to behold. I'm still amazed at how convincingly they swim along behind a boat. But what about times when rough sea conditions make it impossible to keep naked baits running in the water or fumbling, inexperienced fingers fail to rig ballyhoo properly? Worse yet, what can an angler do to entice finicky fish that investigate bait spreads but turn up their noses at naked ballyhoo?

More commonly the general obligation bonds of local governments are paid from ad valorem property taxes and other general revenues. Considered the most secure of all municipal debt.
Bond In Investing Stock Just as that famous doctor needed a jolt of electricity to kick-start his stitched-up creation and get things moving, bait riggers often rely on "artificial intelligence" to add a little life to dead baits.

Municipal Bonds Investment Simply slipping a nylon or rubber skirt down the leader and over a pin-rigged ballyhoo's head provides a splash of color and extra movement that can provoke strikes from fish that pass up clean baits. Skippers and mates working the charter fleet out of North Carolina's Oregon Inlet religiously pull Sea Witch/ballyhoo combinations when targeting yellowfin tuna. Is it the extra color that makes fish zero in on the bait? Or that skirts help keep baits running below the surface, where tuna can more easily nail them? Does the precise reason really matter? The technique produces such consistent results that local crews don't ask each other if they're using skirts, they just ask which color the tuna seem to prefer on a given day.

Bond Terms Trading Another favorite trick of tuna anglers, which scores on wahoo as well, calls for a ballyhoo/jet head combination trolled well back in the spread. The jet head serves two purposes: It creates more disturbance than a naked bait, thus attracting attention, and the lure's weight allows anglers to control the depth of their offerings.
Bond Debt High In Inside Whether targeting billfish, tuna, wahoo or dolphin, savvy skippers always keep on hand a supply of Iland Lures for dressing up dead baits. The best known and most often misidentified lure in this series is the Ilander. Featuring a 2-ounce chromed metal head followed by a 9-inch skirt, the Ilander works beautifully in tandem with ballyhoo of any size. An Ilander/bally combo tracks true, stays underwater in all sea states and draws strikes from every type of pelagic game fish. But many skippers, especially old-school veterans, look at you sideways if you mention an Ilander lure. They still refer to this reliable old standby as a Hawaiian Eye, the product's original name (legal issues forced the name change to Ilander years ago).
Bond Greenville Greenville Billfishermen frequently rig chugger heads in front of ballyhoo to stir up some action. Manufacturers such as Mold Craft, Boone, Sevenstrand and Stalker Outfitters offer various styles and sizes of heads that generate splashy smoke trails to help marlin and sails find baits in heavy seas. When waters calm down, the lure head's extra action sparks an aggressive reaction from hungry fish.
Trading Stock And Bonds At times, teasers so mesmerize billfish that they ignore pitchbaits. This problem plagues crews that pull dredges because the simulated bait ball rides beneath the surface, making it harder to redirect a fish's attention to an overhead offering. A chugger-head/bally combination usually creates sufficient commotion to catch an otherwise occupied billfish's eye. Drop back the bait and reel it up past the fish to get its attention when naked ballyhoo go unnoticed.

Bond Explained Terms Trading At first glance, a Wild Bally by Wildlife Lures looks pretty much like any other offshore trolling lure. Take a closer look, and you'll notice it has ample headroom to accommodate a ballyhoo inside the skirt. "The idea came from my sales reps after getting feedback from North Carolina anglers," says Jason Henderson, owner of Wildlife Lures in La Mesa, California. "They'd been rigging my regular trolling lures ahead of ballyhoo to dress up the baits and allow faster trolling speeds. Somebody suggested that I develop a lure that would streamline a ballyhoo so it could be trolled at 10 knots."
Bond Business Investing Stock The Wild Bally ($21) consists of a urethane ballyhoo head - Henderson makes molds from real ballyhoo, then sculpts and airbrushes each urethane likeness to emphasize the gills and eyes - covered by hand-poured, hand-polished resin. Henderson contends that his labor-intensive method produces a clearer finish than injection-molded lure heads.
Bond Houston Houston "If a ballyhoo's eyes, mouth and gills remain unprotected while trolling, water pressure will blow out your baits. The concept behind Wild Bally is to put those vital parts inside the lure head so they're not exposed to water pressure, allowing you to troll ballyhoo much longer and faster before they wash out," explains Henderson. "The oval-shaped recess in the lure accepts a standard-rigged ballyhoo and locks its head in place, so the bait won't spin or twist inside the lure head."
Stock Bonds Day Trading An ounce of lead, strategically placed along the underside, keeps the lure head riding upright, while the slanted face makes it swim slightly downward and thus stay underwater. The Wild Bally performs like a typical offshore trolling lure, taking a gulp of air, then leaving a bubble trail as it wiggles side to side before grabbing more air. But Henderson is the first to admit that something about his lures smells fishy: "I believe tuna and billfish can smell bait from a distance, especially oily baitfish such as ballyhoo," he says. "When a fish strikes a Wild Bally/ballyhoo combo, it tastes and feels the natural bait. The action, smell and feel make the combination more effective than lures alone."
Bond Corporate Investing Only one size is currently available, but Henderson says that business is so good he expects to market a larger Wild Bally very soon.

Bond Fixed In Income Investing "I got tired of heading out for a day's fishing with friends, only to spend most of the time rigging other people's baits," says Rick Baron, owner of Wanabe Outdoors in Tampa, Florida. "My real job involves designing plastic components for machinery, so I set out to find a way to simplify ballyhoo
Bond Dayton Dayton Investment rigging."
Bond Management Market Risk Baron's initiative led him to invent the Head Start bait-rigging system about five years ago. Made of the same shatter-resistant material as bulletproof shields, the two-piece Head Start secures ballyhoo through the eye sockets (the strongest part of the baitfish) and locks the leader in position via 75-pound-test stainless-steel bead chain (provided) or the crimp in a mono leader. "Since this system places pull-point pressure on the lure/leader and not the ballyhoo, baits remain free for lifelike swimming action. No matter how hard you pull on the leader, baits won't buckle or spin," Baron says.
Bond In Investing Municipal The Head Start Surface Runner ($6.50) sports wings to keep it skipping on top without spinning, while the Diver model ($7.50) runs at depths of 4 feet, thanks to a built-in chin weight and planing lip. Both models speed up the rigging process - it takes only about 30 seconds - and deliver consistent, true-tracking results. In addition, these handy devices have the same advantages inherent in other lure/ballyhoo combinations: Baits last longer, allowing faster trolling speeds and increasing fish-attracting action.
Bond Investment Las Las North Although originally created with inexperienced bait riggers in mind, the Head Start's effectiveness has won over many fans among charter-boat mates and skippers. As Baron puts it, "Head Start was designed for the weekend fisherman, but it's gone to a higher level now."
