Mahwah Mayor Richard Martel said he was pleased with the county's decision and added that the matter isn't strictly a Mahwah vs. Ramsey issue. To make the purchase cost-effective, the township would likely need to transfer $1.1 million in state and county grants it received toward its purchase of a 13-acre Airmont Avenue tract to the McBride property.
