Bond In Investing Savings Nearly all of Gloucester County, Salem, Bridgeton and Millville, along with other aging industrialized centers statewide, stand to gain increased state investment under an anti-sprawl map unveiled this week.

While much of Gloucester County sits in green areas, nearly all of Salem and Cumberland counties are almost all red. Other designations include green light regions such as Phillipsburg and Alpha, where redevelopment would be encouraged, and yellow.
The map shows Cumberland County as being largely undevelopable, according to Freeholder Lou Magazzu. "I believe this map is dead on arrival, " he said. "It was a trial balloon that was a lead balloon. - there was no dialogue." Magazzu said that statewide hearings are being pushed and the possibility exists that there will be hearings on a county by county basis.

"We're very happy to get this money, " said Morris County Freeholder Frank Druetzler. "It helps us keep our infrastructure in good shape, and that helps our Triple A bond rating." Municipal Bonds Investment Gov. James E. McGreevey has made fighting sprawl, the movement of development into areas ecologically unfit, a priority for the state.
Union County Manager George Devanney said he has no problem with Trenton taking another look at the project. "We've tried to strike the best deal for Union County, " Devanney said. "If the state is going to look at things and determine the economic benefits, there's no harm in that." Utilizing $7.2 million from the state transportation bond fund, Union County contracted with the M&E to rebuild the Rahway Valley and Staten Island rail lines. Both freight routes had not been used in over a decade and required extensive repairs to the railbeds and trestles, some of which were removed years ago.
Bond Terms Trading Jeff Tittel, director of the New Jersey Sierra Club, said the anti-sprawl program is likely to redirect growth in New Jersey.

Bond Trading Strategy "Smarter regulation and planning will cut the time parents spend stuck in traffic, protect precious drinking water sources for our families and revitalize our communities," said Bradley Campbell, commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection.
Bond Fixed In Income Investing According to Campbell, the new regulations will not curtail building in New Jersey. He said builders will be able to construct the same number of houses they currently do, but it will shift where they build those houses.
