James Bond Trading Card Tom Gallagher was named President and Chief Executive Officer of Park Place Entertainment Corporation (NYSE: PPE), the world`s largest gaming company, on October 23, 2000. He oversees the Company`s operations in the United States, Canada, Australia, South Africa and South America, which operate under the Bally`s, Caesars, Flamingo, Grand Casino, Paris and Hilton brand names. Park Place owns, manages or has an interest in 28 gaming properties with a total of 2 million square feet of gaming space, more than 29,000 hotel rooms and approximately 60,000 employees worldwide. Revenues for the year 2000 were approximately $5 billion.

The Company`s principal properties are located in the United States` three major gaming markets. In Las Vegas, the Company offers four distinctive resorts in the heart of the Strip: Caesars Palace, the Flamingo, Bally`s and Paris Las Vegas, as well as the city`s key convention property, the Las Vegas Hilton, located next to the Las Vegas Convention Center. In Atlantic City, N.J., the Company owns four Boardwalk properties: Bally`s/Wild Wild West casino, Caesars, the Claridge and the Atlantic City Hilton. Park Place also operates casinos in Tunica, Gulfport and Biloxi, Miss., as well as in Indiana, Louisiana and other locations in Nevada.

Gallagher`s focus is on completing the integration of Park Place`s acquisition of Grand Casinos and Caesars: growing the Company`s revenues and profits through disciplined use of the Company`s substantial free cash flow; and expanding the Company`s global gaming entertainment operations. A key initiative is to broaden the Park Place management team, and identify, promote and recruit talented executives of all backgrounds.

From 1997 to 2000, Gallagher served as executive vice president, chief administrative officer and general counsel for Hilton Hotels Corporation. He was a member of the company`s finance, development and diversity committees and was responsible for supervision of all human resources, legal and administrative matters. He led the executive team responsible for the creation and spin-off of Park Place from Hilton in 1998, and the acquisition of Grand Casinos in 1998. He played a similar role in Hilton`s acquisition of Promus Hotels Corp. in 1999.

From 1992 to 1997, Gallagher was president and chief executive officer of The Griffin Group, Inc., the investment and management firm for all of Merv Griffin`s business activities, including Griffin`s hotel, entertainment, media and gaming operations and investments. He led the growth of the company`s hotel group from a single property to a Sunbelt-oriented group of full-service luxury hotels and resorts. During his tenure, the company`s broadcast division was reorganized and combined with other East Coast radio stations to form a 17-station group ultimately sold to SFX Broadcasting for a substantial premium. He also led the expansion of the group`s entertainment division from its base as producer of the Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! game shows into development of a broad range of entertainment products.

Gallagher also supervised the company`s investments in the gaming business, including its ownership interests in two publicly traded affiliates, Griffin Gaming & Entertainment, Inc. (formerly Resorts International, Inc.), owner/operator of the Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City; and Players International, Inc., a multi-jurisdiction gaming company, with operations in Illinois, Louisiana, Missouri and Nevada. At Griffin Gaming, he served as a member of the board of directors and chairman of the executive committee beginning in 1993 and as president and chief executive officer from 1995 until the acquisition of GGE by Sun International Hotels, Ltd. in 1996, at a substantial premium for shareholders.

Prior to joining the Griffin organization, Gallagher practiced law from 1969 to 1992 with the law firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, where he specialized in corporate finance, mergers, acquisitions, restructurings and international transactions. During his career at the firm, he was a partner in the New York and Los Angeles offices; was the founding and managing partner of the firm`s London office; and served as a managing partner in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Gallagher also served as chief legislative counsel in Washington, DC for then-U.S. Senator John Tunney (D-Calif.) during the first two years of his term.

A native of Michigan, Gallagher graduated magna cum laude from the College of the Holy Cross. He is an honors graduate of Harvard Law School, and is a member of the California State Bar. He and his wife, Mary Kay, have four grown children.

The bomb claimed 31 lives, devastating a small town and leaving a lasting legacy. At the heart of the story is Michael Gallagher, old son in the explosion.
