Municipal Bonds Investment If the township is able to obtain an interest rate between 2.25
and 3 percent, the bond can be paid off entirely with money from
the township's 2-cent open space and farmland preservation tax,
said Committeeman Jim Hausamann.

bond "pale in comparison" to the costs in school construction and
other fees that would develop if houses are built on the
farmland.

open space committee, said the land purchase will help White
Township get attention from the Warren County farmland preservation
program, which has not invested any open space money into the
township.

whole preservation program moving forward in White Township."

taken similar actions and had success, said Committeeman Walter
Menegus.

farmland assessments that increased by as much as 600 percent in
the past year, as crop prices have gone down.
Bond Explained Terms Trading Township tax assessor Ben Murdoch, who did not make the
assessments, said landowners have until April 1 to appeal
assessments to the county tax board. Assessments are determined
using guidelines suggested by the state, then printed on green
cards and mailed in February, he said.

to write to state legislators to object to the state's suggested
guidelines. Ashe said he will also draft a petition that will be
placed in the township municipal building for signatures. Several
of the farmers present offered to help circulate the petition,
which Ashe said should be posted in the municipal building by
Monday.
