From Russia With Love Details
Bond In Investing Savings The latest issue (April 2005) of Game Informer magazine has spilled the beans on EA's next Bond title, James Bond 007: From Russia With Love. The magazine has shipped to subscribers already. We encourage non-subscribers to check out the magazine when it hits newsstands in a few days, as the first images of the game are exclusive to Game Informer as a part of their 10-page report. Here's some of the details revealed about the game:
Storyline: From Russia With Love will follow the storyline of the film very closely. There will be elements from earlier Bond films, in the game, however, such as the jetpack. Bond will take a trip on the Orient Express in the game, in which he will fight off baddies. In addition, Bond will be involved in a high-speed boat chase in the game.
Gameplay: EA says that there will be somewhat open gameplay in From Russia With Love. Gamers will not need to follow a set path, but will instead be able to choose which way they'll get Bond to his objective. The example of a flight of stairs was given, where Bond could find a motorcycle and ride it up the stairs, use a jetpack to fly up the stairs, or simply walk/run up the stairs. Gamers can also decide if they want to tackle a level via stealth or via blasting away automatic weapons at the enemies. From Russia With Love will feature a new "focus mode," in which time can be slowed down (think Enter the Matrix) to allow Bond to place more accurate shots at enemies or objects.
Voice Acting: Many of the original actors in From Russia With Love will not be providing voice talent since they have retired or are deceased. As a result, EA will be adding additional content to the game in order to get "big-name talent" involved. It has been said that Sean Connery may voice Bond in the game. While EA and Connery did have talks, there has been no confirmation from EA or Connery.
Cars and Gadgets: Expect James Bond 007: From Russia With Love to feature classic cars from the 1950s an 1960s. Gamers will be able to enter cars to take advantage of their weapons and armor, and then exit them when needed and go back to using Bonds standard sidearm (Walther PPK) or another weapon. Gadgets will be in the game, but they will be bulkier than in past Bond games. One gadget is the "Serum Gun," and after the serum has been given to an enemy, it will take effect, turning the enemy against everyone around him, including his allies.
Game Engine: EA will be using a single game engine for fighting and driving in From Russia With Love This is a change from past Bond games where there were two different game engines. While fighting, enemies will actually be smart and coordinate attacks against Bond.
Other Characters: Daniela Bianchi's likeness is in the game, and her character will assist Bond by pointing out shortcuts. Kerim Bay and other MI6 members will also help Mr. Bond in the game.
