CCA Auction to Kick Off FishStock-New Smyrna Beach

WINTER PARK, FLA- CCA-Florida will present a silent auction of saltwater fishing tackle, marine gear, works of art and guided trips prior to the "Striker" offshore tournament captain's meeting, Thursday evening, May 27, beginning at 4:30 p.m. The auction will take place at the Brannon Center, Riverside Park in downtown New Smyrna Beach at Canal Street and Riverside Drive.

The Coastal Conservation Association is a nonprofit organization comprised of 15 coastal state chapters spanning the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic seaboard.

The auction is open to tournament entrants and their families and guests; bidders interested in the auction items need not be registrants to the tournament. Bidding will remain open until 8:30 p.m. A wide variety of tackle and equipment, certificates for trips and guided charters, works of art and local goods and services will be auctioned off over the course of the evening.

All proceeds from this auction go to benefit the local and state chapter of the CCA-Florida by funding advocacy initiatives designed to protect anglers' rights as well as supporting legal costs for defending those rights and protecting our resources. CCA-Florida is a statewide organization working to protect marine resources and the interests of saltwater anglers.

CCA's strength is drawn from the thousands of recreational saltwater anglers who make up its membership. From south Texas to the upper reaches of Maine, CCA's grassroots influence is felt through state capitals, the U.S. Congress and, most important, in the conservation and restoration of our coastal marine resources.

FishStock 2004 is a one-of-a-kind festival dedicated to saltwater fishing and returns to New Smyrna Beach in time for the Memorial Day weekend, May 28, 29, 30, 2004.

FishStock combines a wealth of angling entertainment, including onshore exhibits, saltwater fishing clinics, boat and tackle shows. All land-side exhibits at FishStock are free and open to the public.

FishStock will feature an offshore and an inshore tournament designed for local species. The New Smyrna Beach/Daytona Beach "Striker," now in its 28th year is the area's legendary, offshore tournament traditionally held on the Memorial Day holiday. Targeted species are tuna, wahoo, dolphin and king mackerel. Billfish are also included, but are photo-release only. The New Smyrna Beach/Mercury Outboard Redfish-Trout Challenge targets redfish and trout in a two day competition designed for families and inshore anglers.
