Men's soccer continues on a roller coaster season

It was another emotional roller coaster for the men's soccer team last weekend. The Norse routed Coe College 6-0 in Iowa Conference play, but dropped a 6-0 loss to regional powerhouse Gustavus Adolphus.

At home, the Norse seemed unstoppable as they won their fourth straight at home against the Kohawks. Tim Elgin ('05) and William Nartey ('06) led the attack with two goals each.

Elgin started off the onslaught scoring a minute and a half into the match. Luther took the lead and ran as Eric Henderson ('06) posted his ninth goal of the season in the 29th minute off an assist from Ed Mauch ('04) and Jordan Hartman ('05).

As the second half was wrapping up, it was William Nartey's turn. Coming off the bench he drove two past Coe's goalkeeper Bryan Knapp. Nartey's first collegiate goal was scored off an assist from Henderson in the 30th minute of play, with his second coming in the 43rd minute with Hartman and Russell Schouweiler ('05) on the assists. Elgin and Josh Wrolstad ('04) iced the victory with a goal each.

The men improved their IIAC record to 2-1 heading into a tough homecoming match against Simpson. "The big thing is the conference games," said Schouweiler. "We can't dwell on the Gustavus game. We need to be preparedand focused for Simpson."

The men have five days off and come back for their biggest conference match this year against Simpson at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
