Standard for Remote Manageability
Westell's VersaLink Gateway Supports DSL Forum TR-069
Protocol
Bond In Investing Savings AURORA, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 13, 2004-- Westell
Technologies, Inc., (NASDAQ:WSTL), a leading systems developer and
manufacturer of high-speed broadband/DSL and VoIP technology access
products, announced today that its VersaLink(TM) Wireless Gateway
is the first to support the DSL Forum's new protocol TR-069 for
customer premises equipment (CPE) WAN management.
Westell co-authored the TR-069 protocol and helped drive the open
standards based implementation with other Forum members. TR-069
establishes rules for how a CPE device communicates and is managed
by a remote management system. Westell is one of the original
founding members of the DSL Forum and co-chairs the DSLHome
technical and marketing committees, including the one responsible
for the creation of TR-069.

ability to now remotely manage the device via a resident TR-069
client. This flexibility allows the device to receive software
upgrades and feature changes via Westell's EnVoy Service Management
System(TM) without requiring upgrades or field replacement. Unlike
other wireless gateways currently on the market, VersaLink supports
optional Quality of Service (QoS) at both layer 2 and layer 3 as
well as an optional, software programmable uplink Ethernet port
(VersaPort(TM)).
